USING THEREAWAY
Three ways to read Map insights
ThereAway editorial · 28 October 2026
Map insights colours each location dot by one measure at a time. Switch between house prices, recorded crime and flood screening without changing your personal priorities.
Darker means a higher value
In insight views, darker dots indicate higher prices, higher recorded-crime bands or greater screened flood exposure. The five bands help you see patterns. Grey indicates unavailable evidence. Your matches is a separate view, where the existing blue suitability scale shows personal fit.
Crime comparisons need context
Recording definitions and source geography differ across the UK. Crime bands use the relevant national comparison rather than implying that all reporting systems are identical. Read the evidence basis before interpreting a difference between two places.
Flood screening is a first check
A settlement-centre screen does not establish the safety of an individual property. A low modelled value is not proof of low risk. Follow the relevant official flood-map link and investigate the actual address, including the flood sources that the screen may not cover.
